The University of
Warwick provides outstanding opportunities for participating in
sport and its facilities are among the best of any British
University.
In the last 2 years the University Sports Centre has opened a
new fitness room, improved sports hall, studio, reception, changing
rooms and artificial pitch, and updates the Westwood running track
and sports hall, representing an investment of over £3
million.
Westwood sports facilities :
The recently refurbished 8 lane floodlit running track at the
Westwood site provides a professional standard facility for
athletics. The site also has facilities for field events, a
built-in public address system and changing and showering
facilities.
The Westwood site also provides 9 macadam tennis courts, 3
artificial sports pitches, 2 of which are sand-filled and suitable
for a variety of sports, particularly hockey. The third pitch
is specifically designed for full contact sports, such as rugby and
football.
Cryfield Playing Fields:
The recently developed extensive playing
fields adjacent to the Cryfield Halls of Residence include 8
Football pitches, 3 Rugby pitches, 1 Lacrosse pitch, 2 cricket
squares and an artificial wicket. On site there is a Sports
Pavilion with a reception area and extensive changing facilities on
the ground floor.
Sports Halls:
There are two sports halls on main campus, including the new
Desso hall. Both facilities are available for a range of sports,
including basketball, volleyball, football, badminton and netball.
The Desso hall also has four cricket nets for indoor training. Both
halls have high quality sprung floors, spectator galleries and
electronic scoreboards.
